About us

Flathead Fly Fishing Guides is owned and run by husband-and-wife team Brandon and Saige Barnes, who founded the outfit together to share their love of Montana's rivers and wild places.

Brandon, our head guide, got his start in the industry as a mule packer for a backcountry fly fishing operation in the Bob Marshall Wilderness. After a season of hauling gear and learning the ins and outs of how an outfit runs, he returned the next year as a guide, leading anglers through some of the most remote water in Montana. He went on to work with the Glacier National Park fisheries team, deepening his understanding of how river systems work and what keeps fish populations healthy. Today Brandon guides full-time on the Flathead and Missouri Rivers, doing what he loves most: teaching people to fly fish and turning first-timers into anglers.

Saige keeps everything running behind the scenes as our operations manager. She spent years working in the outdoor industry in Glacier National Park guiding backpacking trips, which sparked her passion for taking care of people in the outdoors. Saige loves seeing more women in fly fishing and believes a great day on the water is about more than just catching fish.

Together, Brandon and Saige built Flathead Fly Fishing Guides around a simple idea: every trip should feel personal. That means private boats, no crowds, and a day shaped around you, whether you're a seasoned angler chasing big cutthroat or a family making your first casts together. We're here to teach, to laugh, and to share the rivers we're lucky enough to call home.
